Manchester's Airport: Flying Through Time

By Edward W. Brouder Jr., with contributors Barbara D. Miles, Christopher Van Veen, and Maurice B. Quirin
($35 plus $4 shipping)

Manchester Aiprort
Welcome to the world of aviation. Manchester's Airport: Flying Through Time is a 432-page history of aviation in the Queen City of New Hampshire.
After nearly six years of research and interviews by co-author Edward W. Brouder Jr., contributors Barbara D. Miles and Christopher Van Veen, and Maurice B. Quirin, Manchester's Airport: Flying Through Time was published by New Hampshire's UBT Press in October 2006. Stories of foresight, perseverance and sacrifice span Manchester's flight path since the first balloon ascension in 1856 through the present success of Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.

Manchester's Airport: Flying Through Time features many stories, including Alan B. Shepard Junior's. Shepard pedaled his bicycle from Derry to Manchester as a teen in the 1930s to clean hangars in exchange for flying lessons. His New Hampshire roots helped launch Shepard into history as America's first astronaut.
